Woke, But Not Yet Awake—Discrimination Faced by the LGBTQ+ Community in Healthcare

As a generation that has seen vast and rapid changes in societal dynamics, acceptance of gender identities and racial recognition, we have somehow still managed to fall short in numerous fundamental areas. Access to healthcare, being one of the most basic human rights is still inaccessible to a section of society owing to the various prejudices, bias and negligence of the healthcare sector.

LGBTQ+ Activists—Advocates Against Adversaries

The LGBTQ+ community has borne the brunt of societal ignorance and discrimination for a long time. However, a few brave people decided to stand up to this injustice, becoming a beacon of inspiration for others in the fight for their rights. History, time and again, reminds us of our mistakes as a society and provides us with the strength and motivation to ameliorate our misdoings through these mettlesome personas.

Ally March — Colours of Love

Participants from all over Manipal had come to attend the peaceful ally march that was conducted by Article 19, the media-fest body of the School of Communication. It was encouraging to find the large crowd supportive of the LGBTQ community and responding enthusiastically to the march.
