Rahul Dravid Unveils Manipal Marathon Theme
Cricketing great Rahul Dravid unveiled the theme for the Manipal Marathon 2020 at Marena on 23rd April 2019. The theme, Run for Organ Donation, was chosen with the aim of raising awareness about organ donation and encouraging people to undertake this noble act. The Marathon, the previous version of which was themed on Mental Health, is an annual event that sees massive participation every year.
Preceding the unveiling, a short question and answer session was held where Rahul Dravid shared with the crowd his thoughts on things like his nickname—The Wall, what kept him calm and collected during intense matches, his gratitude for having the opportunity to make his passion his profession, and the change he has seen in cricket over the years.
“The sun always comes up the next day. What people don’t realise is that the game is more about disappointments than success, maybe because we glorify success so much. But learning from the past and looking ahead is most important,” he said, on being asked what the most important thing he had learnt on the field was. Replying to a question about what he would tell his younger self, the batsman said “The process and journey is as important as the goals you want to achieve.”
The event came to an end with Dravid wishing the organisers the best of luck for the marathon, which will be held on 9th February 2020. He praised the organisers of the Manipal Marathon for aligning themselves with the important social cause of organ donation through the theme of the run.
