Haute Couture – Revels’15
Fashion celebrates the spirit of being confidently different. It is the catalyst of free thinking and an indicator of a generation moving forward. In the Revels’ fashion show, the clothes are your canvas and your mind is the paintbrush. Five teams freed their minds and bodies as they contested for the crown across three rounds.
The event was held at a power-packed Quadrangle, with a camera providing live feed to a screen. There were times when it featured members of the audience, to their delight. People were seen swaying and tapping their feet to the upbeat songs playing. With the music, the crowd, and the models, the atmosphere was nothing short of a cricket stadium during the IPL.
The first two rounds had the themes ‘Volatus: Talent’s Unbridled Flight’ and ‘Angels and Demons’ respectively. Both the rounds saw the capacity crowd treated to an eclectic masquerade where models came as everything from circus clowns to construction workers. Class was in session when a girl dressed as a strict teacher became an audience favorite in round one, and a second girl in the guise of a magnificent peacock stole the crowd’s hearts in the next round.
Fashion demands confidence and personality, and so Round Three was a Question and Answer session that the judges astutely fired to put the wit of the teams to the test. One notable incident from that was when a judge asked a team whether modeling was just a stepping stone to Bollywood. She replied, “A Bollywood actress carries more than just clothes, because she must act as well. A model… has different abilities.”
